I am open to the good that enriches my life.
If I buy books but never take time to read them, my bookcase will soon be full. But if I read them, I have the pleasure of exploring other worlds, learning about the inspiring lives of real people, and enjoying the imaginary characters found within the pages. Then, as I pass these books along, I make room in my bookcase for new ones.
I also create space in my inner life. Clearing away the clutter in my thoughts and in my schedule, I make space for new ideas and new opportunities.
Do I want a new career or interesting hobby, a friend or companion, a degree or a vocation? I make space for whatever enriches my thoughts, my faith, and my heart.
"You shall eat old grain long stored, and you shall have to clear out the old to make way for the new."--Leviticus 26:10

Use Me
Here I am, Lord. Use me.
The line from the Lord's Prayer, "Give us this day our daily bread," can refer to food for the body. It can also mean food for the soul or nourishment for the spirit, the living bread of which Jesus spoke.
We all want life to mean more than just material comforts. We want to feel needed. We want to feel we are making a special contribution to the world. We can do this as we express the God-powers and qualities within us.
A simple prayer such as "Here I am, Lord. Use me" can negate any thought or feeling that our lives lack purpose. We are needed, important, and necessary to God and to fellow human beings.
"Give us this day our daily bread."--Matthew 6:11

Live!
I am life in expression!
I live my life wisely and genuinely--always with the intention of contributing something of value.
Thankful for life, I take care of my mind and body and make wise choices. I eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and engage in a variety of healthful activities. I maintain a balance of work and play, rest and action.
Mindful of my spiritual health, I center my thoughts in God. I stay true to myself and honest with others.
Seeking goodness in all, I live life authentically and with integrity. This intentional way of living enables me to fully express the Christ within.
I embrace all of life and reach out in joy to help others.
"Because I live, you also will live. ... I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you."--John 14:19, 20

Celebrate
I am renewed in body and soul.
Whether or not today is my birthday, it can be my rebirth day. This is true because 98 per cent of the atoms of my body are replaced yearly. I am a new person from the one I was last year. I may celebrate the renewing of my body by saying, "Happy Birthday!"
There is also a renewing of my soul that is constantly taking place. Just as my body is growing stronger, so, too, is my faith. I am being renewed in body and soul.
As I express the Christ Spirit within, I become a new person. Christ in me is wisdom, life, and love. This can be my birthday or my rebirth day. Either way, I name and claim the joy that is mine.
"So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"--2 Corinthians 5:17

Let Go, Let God
I release, accept, and receive.
At times I may need to repeat an affirmation several times before it takes hold in mind and heart. For instance, I may have been carrying a heavy burden for days or weeks, and finally I understand: I've been trying to do this all on my own. I stop struggling and affirm: I let go and let God. I repeat this affirmation until I release all to God.
The One Power and Presence never lets me down. I release any worry or struggle and accept the comfort, inspiration, and abundance of God. I receive all that I need, and more.
I release, accept, and receive. With ease and grace, the gifts of God flow to me and through me to accomplish good.
"God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life."--Psalm 54:4

Kindness
I am God's ambassador!
My true nature is to express love and understanding toward others. This is the spirit of God within me, expressing as compassionate words and kind deeds.
Much of what I do in life may not seem significant, yet even with the simplest act, I am an ambassador of God. Knowing this, I expand my willingness to love and care. In my interactions, I choose kindness; in my thoughts, acceptance; in my heart, compassion.
Yes, I am kind and loving at home, at work, and in my community. And the spirit of God within me inspires me to love and to serve in even greater ways, making a difference in my world.
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."--Galatians 5:22-23

Three Steps
I pray. I listen. I act.
In any situation, I can take three simple steps to see my way through: Pray, listen, and act.
Prayer attunes me to God. It quiets my mind, stills my emotions, and prepares me to receive direction. Prayer turns me temporarily away from the conditions that concern me so I am open to ideas for solving them.
During prayer I pause, ready to hear or to sense from within my answer. Listening to God means waiting for the right ideas to illumine my mind. Intuitively sensing a course of action and accepting it readies me for the kind of action that cannot fail to bless and prosper me.
"But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers."--James 1:22

Joy
I am joy in expression!
Life is fuller, richer, and more fun when I approach each day from the joy in my heart. The people I know and love bring me joy, but I can also choose to manifest happiness on my own.
My favorite pastime may be hiking in nature or strolling through city shops and streets. I may find one activity more enjoyable than the other, but I can still find joy in both. Even if I am doing mundane tasks--no matter what I choose to do--the joy I create comes from within.
So whether I'm at dinner with friends or stuck in traffic, I remember happiness is an inside job. As I appreciate everything in life, I am joy in expression!
"He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouts of joy."--Job 8:21

Prayer
Prayer by prayer, I enrich my life.
How do I achieve a spiritually centered life? I pray.
When I spend time in prayer, I gain a deeper understanding of my true nature. My potential for a richer, fuller life is revealed to me.
Through communion with God I become attuned to the divine presence and power within me. I am strengthened and guided to do what is mine to do.
Prayer immerses me in the love of God and opens my heart to meaningful relationships. Prayer brings me new insight so that I more fully express the love within me.
My life is enriched through the power of prayer, which gives me strength, wisdom, and enthusiasm.
"Strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way."--1 Corinthians 12:31

Simplicity
I am attuned to the goodness of God.
Hearing the gentle patter of raindrops on a windowpane, enjoying a conversation with a friend, joining in laughter with loved ones--what blessings these are! Such simple pleasures are but a few of the abundant gifts from God that enrich my life's experience.
Gratitude invites even more good into my life. I thank God for the blessings of reaching a goal, sharing a friendship, seeing a sunrise. I feel deep appreciation for the simple things in life.
I acknowledge my blessings one by one. As I do, I open my awareness to the goodness of God all around me. Truly, I am blessed beyond measure.
"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."--Psalm 37:4

Imagination
The good I imagine is becoming reality.
One way I pray is to use my imagination to envision good. I imagine and affirm the highest and best for all people and for all of life.
I realize that the highest good is beyond description or definition. However, I can imagine hearing good news from people around the world--news of peace where there had been conflict, healing where there had been pain, prosperity where there had been seeming lack.
I imagine people treating one another with respect and love. I imagine the fullness of life and abundance for all. I picture all forms of life on earth coexisting in balance and order. The good I imagine is becoming reality.
"Blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear."--Matthew 13:16
