Gratitude - Today's Daily Word
I welcome this day with a thankful heart. Beginning my morning in this way cultivates an attitude of gratitude not only for special occasions but for every day.
As I arise from a peaceful night, I give thanks to God for rest received and for blessings to come. This sets a positive tone, one that attracts life-enhancing experiences to me.
Sharing a simple "thank you" with others generates good feelings. My gratefulness is contagious and becomes a positive, attitude-changing influence.
At the close of the day, I again express my gratitude to God. I give thanks for the kind thoughts of others, an inspiring sunset, and happy times spent with family and friends. And most of all, I give thanks for the constant flow of God's good in my life.
"For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving."--1 Timothy 4:4
Listen - Today's Daily Word
During this season, I may have heard joy-filled carolers, the beckoning of bell ringers, or the crunch of an icy snow's surface as I stepped through it. Excited shouts of children, bustling activity of shoppers, and appreciation of volunteers all echoed in the air as I made my holiday rounds.
But there is also a deeper, inner listening that exists. Scripture tells of how Joseph listened to the warning of the angel that appeared to him in a dream. He then took the Christ Child and His mother by night, fleeing to Egypt for safety.
My own heart and soul become attuned to spiritual guidance. In prayer, meditation, or with my own intuition, I pause and know what I am to do. For the good of myself, those near to me, and those I have yet to meet, I listen for and act on spiritual guidance.
"Take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you."--Matthew 2:13

Unity - Today's Daily Word
I celebrate unity in the many forms it appears in my life and in the world: the togetherness of family and community, the harmony of individuals working for one collective purpose, or the connectedness of all humanity regardless of language, beliefs, customs, or geography.
In God there is a unity of spirit. In prayer I contemplate this oneness and experience unity with all life. In these sacred moments, I remember my unity with all humanity.
My experience of knowing my oneness with all increases as I am divinely guided to new thoughts and interactions. Being gentle and open with purpose, creativity, and faith, I help generate unity in the world.
"Lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."--Ephesians 4:1-3

Surprise -Today's Daily Word
To children, surprise may be their response to a fun party, an unexpected gift, or a new discovery. A surprise can be something fun, unforeseen, and new for me also.
At times I am so amazed by a turn of events that it leaves me feeling overjoyed and blessed. And when a situation turns out better than expected, I am delighted.
My feeling surprised about a good outcome is a kind of wake-up call for me to accept something wonderful. It jump-starts my feeling of enthusiasm for life and being thankful to God for it all.
Removing any limitations on the goodness of God, I welcome my blessings.
"All the people saw him walking and praising God, and they recognized him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him."--Acts 3:9-10
Free - Today's Daily Word
Because my true nature is spiritual, I am free in mind, body, and soul. Old ways of speaking, thinking, and acting have no hold on me as I deepen my understanding of my spiritual nature and develop new practices for daily living.
Just as a document or an agreement can be edited and amended with new information, my mental and emotional framework is enhanced as I grow in spiritual understanding. Affirming a new awareness that I want to embody helps me claim my transformation.
Turning to God in prayerful meditation, I give thanks for the awareness I have and for new expressions of freedom to come. I continue to transform my life as I strengthen and deepen my awareness of the truth of my being: I am free!
"If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."--John 8:31-32

Protected - Today's Daily Word
If I myself or a friend or loved one is about to embark on a journey, the first line of the "Prayer for Protection" comes to mind. It helps me to remember that "The light of God surrounds us."
Recalling these words is a great source of peace to me. I know that God is all powerful and everywhere present. As I affirm my oneness with God, I feel the blessed assurance that all is well with me and with the people I pray for.
Today I hold family and loved ones--including my pets--in prayer. I see each one guided, protected, and cared for in the best possible way. It's true: God's presence lights our way every day.
"And you will have confidence, because there is hope; you will be protected and take your rest in safety."--Job 11:18
Thank You, God, for Your guiding spirit of love.
In moments of prayer with You, dear God, I am immersed in Your love. Even when situations or events seem daunting, I pray and feel the confirmation that Your loving spirit is guiding me and all others in ways of safety and peace.
Connecting with You strengthens my realization that the people I care about are also being blessed and guided by Your love. As I pray, I affirm that love surrounds, upholds, and inspires right actions and enlightened ways of thinking and being.
Thank You, God, for Your caring, guiding spirit of love within me, within those I know, and within those I have yet to meet. May we each grow in an awareness that divine love is active within us and within every person and all circumstances.
"He protected us along all the way that we went, and among all the peoples through whom we passed."--Joshua 24:17

Joy - Today's Daily Word
As I look forward to celebrating the birth of the Christ Child, I take time to deepen my understanding of this sacred event and the meaning it holds for me.
Through His life, Jesus taught about our own spiritual nature. He showed by example how to honor the Christ qualities, qualities of perfection that are inherent within all.
I embrace each of the Christ qualities of love, life, light, and peace. I ponder their meaning and the ways I can express them more fully. In Scripture, the angel's announcement of joy encourages me to explore the perfection that brings me happiness. I am open to new experiences. With enthusiasm, I celebrate and give thanks for the joy of the Christ that inspires a life of vitality, harmony, and freedom.
"The angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid; for see--I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people.' "--Luke 2:10
Prosperity - Today's Daily Word
My life is blessed as I give and receive from the abundance of Spirit.
In the coming days, there may be several opportunities to exchange gifts with special people in my life. The gifts I've chosen and prepared reflect my love and appreciation for them. Person-to-person, I share with others from the abundance of Spirit that is freely given and gratefully received.
Presents and cards, cookies and crafts are symbols of thoughtfulness and love. But my experience of prosperity continues and extends even deeper than the objects and the symbols. As I give and receive from an awareness of God's ever-expanding abundance, my life is blessed.
The love I share, the good wishes I extend, and the satisfaction I feel heighten my appreciation for all life. As I give and receive from the heart, I am fulfilled.
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap."--Luke 6:38

Breakthrough - Today's Daily Word
When rays of sunlight break through the clouds on a gloomy day, it is a welcome reminder that the sun is always shining--whether I see it or not.
At times, I may feel a bit gloomy. I may have allowed myself to become so caught up in the busyness of my life that I do not see the good that is always there. When I take a break from worry and frustration, I become aware of my blessings.
And like a bright ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, I break through to the truth of my oneness with God. My breakthrough may come in reading Scripture, listening to inspirational music, a sudden insight, or an unexpected solution to a problem.
Always, I return to the understanding that God is with me and all is well.
"The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple."--Psalm 119:130
Personal Touch - Today's Daily Word
At the office, on a bus, or in a store, I may be around people without having a conversation or any other interaction with them.
Yet when I ask a coworker who seems overloaded with work if I can be of help, when I take my package off the seat next to me on the bus so someone can sit down, when I pick up groceries for a neighbor while I'm at the store, I reach out with a personal touch.
The impersonal gives way to the personal touch that flows from Spirit within. I understand that no one is meant to be a stranger in a world created by God. I recognize people as a part of my team, as fellow travelers in life, as neighbors wherever they may live.
"But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him."--Luke 10:33-34

Harmony - Today's Daily Word
All is well within my soul and my world. I may find it all too easy to become caught up in my own world, centered on my needs and desires and those of the people who are close to me. So I take time for meditative reflection and remember that we are all significant yet individual components of God's great universe.
I consider a world map, acknowledging all of the people, countries, and cultures within its scope. What makes it all work? How is it that I fit so seamlessly into such a large plan?
I fit into the world and into God's design because I am in harmony with all. I am a part of a cohesive "whole." One among billions of people, I depend on the world, and the world depends on me and each individual. I participate, contribute, and celebrate, forever in tune with divine harmony.
"The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it."--Psalm 24:
Light -Today's Daily Word
This is the season of light, a time when hearts are aglow. I picture the image of a light that holds my attention. It may be a streetlight with sparkling snow flurries whirling past it. Perhaps I see sunlight creating prisms on a snow's glittering surface or moonlight moving shadows across a meadow dusted in white. My image may be of a single candle lit in the window with an intention of holiness. In this stillness, I reflect upon the light. I breathe and relax. All is tranquil, prayerful.
This is a time of insight, radiance, and joy. In prayer, I give thanks in advance for love, sharing, and guidance. I realize I can let my own inner light shine out more brightly. With wisdom and kindness, I make a difference in the lives of many.
"When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was."--Matthew 2:9

Forgive - Today's Daily Word
If I temporarily forget the importance of living joyously in the moment, I may feel weighed down by another's behavior or even my own. Becoming aware of the value of peace, contentment, and insight I am missing out on, I go within to the silence and receive a fresh perspective.
Centering my thoughts in prayer, I envision myself and others in the light of the truth about us. We are God's creations, blessed with love, strength, and security. There is a wealth of good in our lives. I give thanks for us all and for the lessons we have learned through our experiences together.
In prayer, I release all people, all situations into God's care. This is forgiveness through which I experience a lightheartedness and freedom beyond measure.
"Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart."--Psalm 97:11
Pray for Others - Today's Daily Word
When the needs of another come to my attention, I pray, affirming that help is available and answered prayer is even now evident in this person's life. In the light of understanding, I am free of any belief that might interfere with the perfect expression of health, wealth, and peace.
Through the presence of God, we each have unlimited inner resources of wisdom and strength. I acknowledge that everyone for whom I pray has the power of God within. I envision them living their lives from divine guidance and with understanding that is continually deepening.
With faith in the transformative power of God, I affirm: A perfect outcome is happening concerning your every condition and circumstance. The power of God is working wonders in your life.
"Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved."--Luke 8:50

Inner Peace - Today's Daily Word
When life seems hectic, it's time for me to redirect my thoughts to the presence of God within me.
To experience God's peace-giving presence, I can either take a break for a few moments in the silence or set aside a longer time for prayer. Or I may go away for a tranquil weekend of spiritual reflection and renewal.
In the stillness of these quiet times, I commune with God. God is my strength and my sustenance, and as I spend these quiet moments realizing my connection with God, peace wells up from within.
Retreating to the stillness of my soul, I experience absolute peace. I am refreshed and revitalized--ready to greet my day and the people around me with a smile on my face and joy in my heart.
"As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God."--Psalm 42:1
Time Alone - Today's Daily Word
Being with others in an audience--watching a play or a sports event--or gathering with friends and family as we enjoy dinner or a special occasion--adds to the fun and excitement of these times. However, I also need time alone to nourish my spirit, mind, and body.
Giving myself a break from the usual routines and from ongoing holiday events and celebrations, I am physically and spiritually renewed. In the privacy of my own home or another quiet space, I spend time alone with God. Knowing the presence of God so completely in the moment, I have nothing to distract me. I am refreshed.
Coming back to be with others, I appreciate them even more. Having time alone with God gives me, and them, a fresh start.
"And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone."--Matthew 14:23

Grace - Today's Daily Word
A difficult situation might cause me to feel as a caged bird might feel--that there is no way out. Instead, I remember that, like the bird, I have a song in my heart. I sing a song of God's love, the source of grace that frees me from all limitations.
Grace is a precious gift from God, and it is an essential aspect of my Christ nature. During a silent moment of prayer, my heart's song helps me let go of limiting thoughts and be receptive to the freeing power of God's loving grace.
My life is a song of joy and wonder. I give thanks for the grace of God that moves me beyond any limitation that I would encounter. With gratitude, I welcome opportunities to experience new insights, greater harmony, increased vitality, and plentiful supply. Through God's grace, I am blessed.
"Each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ's gift."--Ephesians 4:
Let Go, Let God - Today's Daily Word
Clearing negative thoughts from my mind is much like removing grime from a window. Just as washing away a film on glass allows a clearer view and welcomes the warmth of sunlight, prayer helps me gain clarity and become centered in the warmth of God's love.Removing cluttered thinking is a sure way to let go and let the love of God shine on my circumstances.
Quiet times of prayer allow me to focus on the affirmative and to be open to God's guidance. In these moments, I relax as I breathe. With each breath, I trust divine love to show me a more positive view of my life and its unfolding events. This time of release steadies me and assures me that continued, limitless blessings are mine. I let go and let God's love fill my life in marvelous ways.
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act."--Psalm 37:5

Worthy - Today's Daily Word
As a creation of God, I am worthy of good. I know this is true, and I show this is true. I go about living my life fully each day by accepting my good with gratitude.
I am in awe of life in every varied form that it is expressing in my world. With reverence for all life, I am considerate and compassionate toward others and also myself.
Each creation of God is sacred and unique, so I feel no cause to compare my skills and talents with those of others. I celebrate our uniqueness and our oneness of life.
When I think about my attributes, when I look at myself in the mirror, I do so with appreciation for the wisdom of God that guides me, the love of God that inspires me, and the life of God that enlivens me.
"And now, my daughter, do not be afraid, I will do for you all that you ask, for all the assembly of my people know that you are a worthy woman."--Ruth 3:11
Prepared - Today's Daily Word
On the job or at home, I am prepared for whatever it is that I am to do. I have the intelligence to know how to go about doing things that bring about the best results. I have the energy to keep on keeping on.
I am not doing anything on my own. The very life and intelligence of God are my constant, unfailing resources. I have more than confidence; I have the assurance that God is my help in every need.
I balance times of planning and doing with times of prayer and meditation. Whatever information I collect in my mind, I also need to retrieve. The more relaxed and assured I am when retrieving information, the easier it is for me to bring it forward when needed. Being prepared, I am ready to take on the day.
"He answered, 'Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.' "--Mark 1:38

World Peace - Today's Daily Word
To experience peace in the world, we first know peace within ourselves. World peace emanates from our individual expressions of the love of God both internally and out into our day-to-day lives. As we allow divine love to remove all fear, we understand that peace is ours here and now.
Allowing God's peace to take hold in our hearts and our minds, we are empowered to share our gifts of peace with the world. By sharing of ourselves and listening to others, we show compassion and kindness. As we allow ourselves to accept, enjoy, and appreciate our fellow human beings, divine peace emerges from us, reaching out and expanding to all the world.
"Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way ... It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."--1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 7
Comfort - Today's Daily Word
When I am most in need of comfort, I remember I have choices. Though honoring my feelings is important, I refrain from being consumed by negativity or sadness. I know I can cultivate a higher level of thought and action to carry me forward.
At all times my strength comes from knowing God's presence is within me. I am never separate from God. In the stillness of prayer, I give myself time to acknowledge God's precious, embracing love. Prayerful moments enable me to become calm, collected, and relaxed. I release hurt or sadness, allowing such feelings to peacefully drift away.
Divine love flows throughout my being. I feel the tender assurance that I am never alone. My heart is comforted, and I am filled with new hope.
"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with all of you."--2 Thessalonians 3:16
